A Message From the Sheriff...

 On behalf of my staff, I would like to welcome you to the Gallia County Sheriff's Office web site. The purpose of this site is to provide the residents of Gallia County information regarding the Sheriff's Office and its role in keeping Gallia County safe.  Our web site has been designed to be informative and to provide you with tools to assist our agency in providing better law enforcement services to our area. Sheriff’s Deputies Recover stolen ATV

Gallipolis – Gallia County Sheriff Deputies arrested Joshua Johnson AGE 31 of Hannan Trace Rd. Gallipolis,  on Kemper Hollow Rd. following a routine traffic stop for operating an ATV on a roadway. Upon inspecting the vehicle it was found to have been stolen from a Gallipolis homeowner on Lynwood Drive.  Joshua Johnson was charged with operating an unregistered vehicle on the roadway, driving under suspension and theft. The Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning, commented that the apprehension of Johnson highlights the need for the public to be vigilant during the daytime hours as well as at night. This theft had just occurred prior to the deputy stopping the vehicle. Click here for more.


Changes to the Website are Underway

Beginning August 10, 2010, the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office will be upgrading its website.  The pages that will mostly be affected are Current Inmates, Past Inmates, Sex Offenders, Tip Lines and Sheriff’s Sales.  The update will be to a data driven base so the residents and visitors to Gallia County Sheriff’s Office website may search for information by name, address or date of incident.  It is our hope that this upgrade will make it more user friendly to obtain information and provide our office with tips and online reports.  Any information collected will be posted on the website for searches by citizens.  We ask that you please be patient with us as we strive to bring you the most informative website possible.


Citizens Academy Graduates for 2010
The Gallia County Sheriff's Office recently wrapped up it's 2010 Citizens Academy. Pictured are (left to Right) Deputy Jimmy Spears, Class Coordinator, Marvin Vandenburg, Nancy Vandenburg, Barb Epling, Bette Null Horan, Polly Weatherholt, Tony Gallagher, Glen Grahm and Gallia County Sheriff Joe Browning. Class Participant not pictured were Chuck and Cheryl Vanco. The next academy is being scheduled for March 2011.

Sheriff’s Office Work Release Center Opening
The Gallia County Work Release Center is an alternative to jail. Those persons who have been convicted of minor criminal offenses may petition the court to serve their sentence at this facility. This allows the resident to continue to work without losing his employment. Click here for more.

Concealed Carry Information

New Fees and Hours in Effect June 2010

  Gallia County Sheriff's Office accept application for Carry Concealed Permits and for renewal permits  Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursdays 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. for more information or applications click here.


Crime Watch Meetings

   Gallia County Sheriff, Joe Browning has posted a new schedule of meeting times and dates for area Crime Watch groups. If you are interested in attending and or joining click here for details


Electronic Web Checks

  Web Checks or Electronic Fingerprinting will only be conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. the fees for these will be $35.00 for BCI&I and $50.00 for an F.B.I. webcheck.  Click here for more information.

  The Gallipolis Municipal Court is now offering Mediation Services for those who have a Civil Dispute
